Getting to Sligo

  • Sligo is less than 3 hours drive from Dublin - much of the route on motorways. Follow signposts for the N4 to The West (Google route map - new window).
  • Knock Airport is 45 minutes from Sligo with regular scheduled flights to the UK (Birmingham, Bristol, East-Midlands, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester) and mainland Europe. Flights from GBP5.00 each way. Car hire is available at Knock Airport from GBP 20.00 per day.

  • There are daily flights from Dublin Airport to Sligo Airport with Aer Arann. The flight takes ~25 minutes and currently costs from EUR 27.00. Car hire is also available at Sligo Airport.
  • Trains leave Dublin Connolly station for Sligo every two hours. The journey takes ~3 hours.
  • Sligo is also 3 hours from Belfast International Airport (Google route map - new window).
  • If travelling by ferry from the UK the fastest route is through Dublin. There are 7 ferry crossings a day with a sailing duration from 1 hour 50 mins from GBP 69.00. See Irish Ferries or Stena Line.

Directions from Sligo

Raghley is ~25 minutes drive from Sligo town.

  • Take the N15 North, signposted for Lifford (towards Ben Bulben).
  • Ten minutes from Sligo, turn left after the Yeats Tavern restaurant inĀ Drumcliffe (signposted for Carney andĀ Lissadell).
  • In Carney village, follow the road to the left opposite Laura's bar and restaurant. Continue for ~10 minutes past entrances for Lissadell House.
  • ~5 minutes past Lissadell, turn left at Dunleavey's shop and Jordan's pub (road signposted for Raghley). Continue past the grave yard and continue for 5 minutes until you reach Raghley.
  • In Raghley, with the sea wall on the right and Sligo bay on the left, follow the road to the right signposted for Raghley harbour. The cottage is the first of three cottages opposite the sea wall.
